He can walk!

Connor started walking at 11 months old. The boys will be 15 months old in 10 days, and Isaac is finally walking! He took his first steps a couple of weeks ago but hasn't done much more than 1-2 steps since then....until a few days ago. Something clicked & he has been walking a lot more over the past few days. Still not more than 8-10 steps at a time, and he still crawls more than he walks, but he is trying & looking cute while he does. I captured a few steps on video last night & I'll add a video to this blog entry tonight...

Some of you might be saying that now I'm in trouble since they'll both be walking...I disagree. Isaac is a climbing maniac, so I don't think he'll get into anything now that he's walking that he didn't already. It will be so nice to let him play outside & not worry about him wearing holes in the knees of his pants or about how dirty the ground is where his hands are!! I've already got one "toddler," so what's one more?

First Haircuts

Connor & Isaac just got their first haircuts. We took them to this fun place called Monkey Dooz that specializes in kids haircuts. Not necessary, but I thought it would be a more fun experience for the first time having their heads attacked by scissors. They both were really good...no crying. Connor was a little too wiggly though & the stylist was having a hard time cutting his hair with the scissors. So, she used the clippers instead. I told her I wanted it short, so I guess this is what I get! It's not really as short as it looks in the back...it almost looks like he has no hair!

While you were sleeping

The title should really read, "while you were supposed to be sleeping."
This morning while the boys were supposed to be napping, Isaac was still not asleep after 30 minutes. He wasn't crying, he just wasn't sleeping. I listened outside their door for a few minutes & heard a ripping noise that sounded like velcro ripping apart. They have mesh crib bumpers that attach with velcro, so I assumed he had somehow figured out how to remove them. I didn't want him wrapping himself in crib bumpers, so I opened the door to check on him. This is what I found...

The little punk was so stinkin' proud of himself...he had a huge grin on his face. I couldn't help but laugh.

Is it Easter yet?

Before we had kids of our own, we had a basket of toys that we would bring out when friends came over & brought their kids. In this basket was a pair of lavender bunny ears. I was playing around this morning & put them on Isaac. Normally he hates to have anything on his head, but once he saw himself in the mirror with these ears on, he was obsessed. He played with them on for quite a while this evening. He kept reaching up to make sure they were still there. If they fell off, he tried to put them back on by himself - this caused a little frustration since around his neck is NOT where he wanted to wear them...

Little Bruiser

It has been 3 months since Connor took his first steps, and now the kid is crazy! He gets so excited & thinks he can run faster than he really can. This has resulted in visually evident injuries twice in the past 3 weeks. Just after the bump (and bruise) in the middle of his forehead disappeared, he tripped & landed face first (eye first) on the leg of a chair. Ryan says he's just trying to make himself look tough...

Hungry?

Much to my chagrin, Isaac can be a very picky eater at times. Occasionally he surprises me by eating things that Connor refuses. Last night, after they finished their dinner, I let them have a few pieces of Apple Jacks cereal on their trays. Isaac decided that he liked them so much that he needed to shove them all in his mouth at once...to the point of gagging. If only he would eat his peas like that!

Finally, some words!

I know parents of older toddlers will tell me I'll regret this, but I have been dying for the boys to say some actual words. Connor isn't quite there yet, but Isaac has become a little chatterbox. He says "Hello", "Uh-oh", "Daddy", and "Bye-bye" so far...seems like a new word every few days now! Here's a cute little video montage of Isaac saying "Hello."
